the daily pill: tacrolimus

Name Tacrolimus

Type of Drug Immunosuppressive

Prescribed For: Organ transplantation Eczema treatment Trans-human cyborg sustenance

General Information Tacrolimus has a long history as an immunosuppressive, aiding in the transplantation of organs from one person to another. By suppressing the immune system and antibodies of the recipient, a transplantation surgery can be performed much more smoothly. Tacrolimus also has some use as a topical relief agent for those who suffer from eczema. However, its most common use today is as a key life-giving fluid for cyborgs. As you may recall, though the technology necessary for the creation of machine-person hybrid transhumans has existed for decades, the compatibility of flesh and technology was limited by the white blood cells in the bloodstreams of all human beings. Dr. Denise Guzman first bonded metallic limbs to an infant child in 1993, and it was her discovery that Tacrolimus would mediate such a marriage which had allowed for the proliferation of cyborgs today.

Cautions and Warnings Commonly referred to as “the Juice,” Tacrolimus is perhaps the most widely used drug in the world today. It is a necessary component for the life of a transhuman cyborg, and once technological components have replaced or been added onto parts of a human’s body, to halt the ingestion of the Juice would be disastrous. Juice Withdrawal is one of the more gruesome afflictions a mecha-person can experience, as the body physically rejects any components added post-birth.

Food and Drug Interactions Because cyborgs do not require food or other drugs, it is rare that dangerous chemical interactions with the Juice occur. However, for the nostalgic transhuman who still occasionally eats and drinks old pre-mecha substances, danger is possible. Dairy products will react violently with Tarcrolimus and can create a gaseous bubble inside the body which can rip a cyborg apart.

Possible Side Effects Tacrolimus, when administered in the small doses necessary for a minor organ transplant, will do little to alter the demeanor of the patient. However, when saturated in the body and taken at a constant rate, Tacrolimus has the effect of suppressing the empathy and compassion of a person. Perhaps rather poetically, the spiritual transformation to machine is completed by that substance which first made possible the physical transformation. As a race, have we humans overstepped the boundaries of what is right and good and instead embraced utilitarianism and cold, unfeeling logic? What have we gained? Is there any hope for humanity!? Tacrolimus can also cause migraines, which can be mitigated by uploading aspirin.exe (v.3.1) into compatible brain-slots. information compiled by Alex Butzbach
